Wolff Center ADHD Evaluation

With our evaluation, you will receive a full and comprehensive assessment for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder that not only provides a definitive diagnosis, but also identifies other conditions commonly associated with ADHD such as learning disabilities or other behavioral conditions. The full evaluation generally takes approximately five (5) weeks, and consists of five separate appointments:

• The first visit is an appointment with our intake specialist, Nancy Turner; this visit is to discuss medical, behavioral and social history, the reason for evaluation, i.e. grades, behavior issues or referral from teacher/doctor etc. Behavioral rating scales are provided for teachers, parents and the child, if age appropriate. Please bring to this visit your child’s last report card, a copy of cumulative folder, progress report and FCAT scores if applicable.

• Your child will have an ADHD focused physical exam by Dr. Corey Wolff, which includes an eye exam, hearing screening, and additional general physical exam components based on your child’s age, needs, and physical history.

• Your child will be given a Continuous Performance Test (CPT), which is a computer-based objective assessment that precisely and reliably measures the core symptoms of ADHD: hyperactivity, impulsivity and attention. While there are various CPTs on the market, The Wolff Center utilizes the M-MAT, which was developed by physicians at Harvard University, and provides precise, reliable and reproducible information on symptom severity under controlled conditions.

• Our Licensed School Psychologist, Gail Patterson will administer your child’s academic testing, which includes full scale IQ testing (the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition {WISC-IV}); as well as a Comprehensive Achievement Battery (the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-Second Edition {WIAT-II}). These tests identify your child’s abilities, strengths, and weaknesses as well as clarify each individual child’s learning style. Additionally, these tools are used to diagnose learning disabilities and other educational concerns. (Please note that an alternative test may be used in situations where the provider feels appropriate.)

• Your child will meet with Nancy Turner for a behavioral assessment appointment. During this appointment, Ms. Turner gets acquainted with and interacts with your child in an age-appropriate manner in order to assess him/her for ADHD behaviors as well as any co-morbidities.

• Your final appointment will be the Sharing of Findings where you will obtain the results of our evaluation. You will meet with the professionals involved to go over results, discuss treatment options and answer any questions you may have. At this appointment, you will be provided a comprehensive written report.
